how to load your member picture/avatar

To all the “members” on this site:  Most of you don’t have a member picture here, and someone asked how to upload one.  I should have explained this, as it’s different than how it worked when this was in a forum format, now that we’re using a blog format.  This blog uses a thing called a “gravatar” (globally recognized avatar) for your picture.  You can set one up for yourself by going to www.gravatar.com, and follow the instructions there to upload a picture to be used as your avatar (which is the techie name of the little picture), which gets connected to your email address.  Then, anytime you sign up on a site like this one that uses gravatars, it will automagically appear on that site.

Organic Gathering in SeaTac, WA

Hi Page. About two years a group of us started an organic gathering. We were meeting in a couple of places in Bothell, then it didn’t work that well, and now some of us have been gathering for the last year or so at our home in SeaTac. We believe that the Lord desires for his body to meet often, and we’d like to invite others to join us. Would you please add our group to the map. Kind regards, Rod and Gloria.

house church directory for washington state

Hey all,

I wanted to make sure you knew about a new Washington House Churches directory that a couple local house church friends in the Puget Sound area have started up:  http://washingtonhousechurches.net/. It’s a handy Google map of the simple/organic/house churches in Washington state, and is just getting underway, so you can go ahead and identify your gathering on the map for others to know about, or post your location if you’re currently not involved in a gathering and want to be. That way, you and others who are looking will be able to find out about each other, connect, and either join a gathering, or start a new one!  You can post as little or much info about yourself and gathering as you’d like.  For example, I posted just name and email.

re-launching this site

Hello to registered users and visitors,

Today this site is being re-launched in a blog format rather than a bulletin board format. The idea is to make it easier and more enjoyable to read and post.

After about three years in the bulletin board format, it seemed that the usage of this site settled into four types of posts:

  • looking for church life in some location
  • posting something about a book, link, or other resource relevant to simple, organic church life
  • coordination around some event, such as a coffee meet-up among us, or an annual picnic
  • and other random, or “general” topic about church life.

So these four groups have now become “categories” for the posts.

People were also using Private Messages, so that capability is here as well.

Speaking of postings, you can get started with your next one by logging in (required), then you’ll see the “Add New” link at the top, and then “Post.”  All posts will now appear on one continuous thread, so the next one will appear above the one before it, and so on.  No more hunting around in various forums to find out what people are saying.

As always, comments, feedback on how to improve this site are welcomed.

Networking Puget Sound Organic Church Leaders

If this is in the wrong area, admin (Page?), please redirect.

Just joined the forum today. I have been wanting to see organic church leaders network in the Puget Sound area for a couple years now. It’s heavy on my heart again to see this happen. I see that there was some kind of meeting in November at Third Place Books (I live less than 5 minutes from there).

What I sense for the future of the organic church in the Puget Sound area is a networking of those called to be equipper-leaders for the organic church in our area. A forum like this is part of that, of course. But in addition to this, I’m feeling that there are leaders among us who need to unite (or at least in the beginning, network) in Holy Spirit-ordained areas to provide an equipping resource for the wider organic body of Christ in this region.

If there is anyone "out there" who feels similarly, I would like to talk. In the meantime, if there is another informal gathering planned soon, I would love to come.

looking for the church in North Bend/Snoqualmie

bringing this out to the front so it gets better visibility. New member, Trollyman, asked in another post, "I’m in the North Bend/Snoqualmie area. Do you know of anyone out here or in the general vicinity? Thanks for your time."

Anyone have ideas?
